I used my old Mighty mite for years without the hepa filter so I can tell you there is a difference.  we need to breath the cleanest air we can in our homes especially with the COVID at home so much this year!  go for the hepa -

I am a cleaning nut.  I had an Oreck portable and this is MUCH better.  The unit came with more than I expected from Discount CP.  Very happy with them and will definately purchase again!
