Ameripolish SR2 is a solvent-based stain resistor for polished concrete and terrazzo, and the thing that separates it from a typical sealer is that it does not form a film. It penetrates deep into dense, hard and non-porous concrete surfaces and builds a breathable, sub-surface barrier that repels both oil-based and water-based stains. Because there is no coating sitting on the surface, there is nothing to peel, wear through, or strip and recoat - and no change to how the floor looks.
That combination is why it is the default on industrial and high-traffic commercial work. The molecular size is extremely small, so it reaches further into the surface than products that rely on building a topical guard, and it delivers both hydrophobic and oleophobic performance - which matters in a commercial kitchen or a shop floor where the spills are oil, not water.

Getting the application right
Apply with a pump sprayer using a Green #4 conical mist tip (4.2 gal/hr at 40 psi) and a microfiber pad. Lay down a light film coat and keep the surface wet for about a minute so it can penetrate - 100 percent coverage with no streaking and no puddling, mopping out any puddles that form. Haze afterward is normal and is removed by burnishing with a 3000-grit or finer diamond pad, or auto-scrubbing with a white pad. Do not apply above 90 degrees F or on hot windy days; the product needs to soak in rather than flash off. Cleanup is with mineral spirits or an equivalent solvent, which differs from the water cleanup on 3D SP and 3D HS.

- Substrate: new or existing polished concrete and terrazzo, cured 28 days. Moisture 5 lbs per 1,000 sq ft per 24 hours or less.
- Best results over Ameripolish 3D HS or 3D HSL densifier, which also expands SR2 coverage.
- Cleanup: mineral spirits or equivalent solvent.
- Reapply approximately every 2 years, sooner with wear.
Frequently asked questions
Will it change how the floor looks?
No. SR2 is non-topical and penetrating, so it adds no gloss, sheen or film. Gloss on a polished floor comes from the polishing and burnishing grits, not from the resistor.
Solvent-based or water-based SR2 - does it matter?
Functionally they do the same job, but the solvent-based version covers roughly 3,000 to 5,000 sq ft per gallon versus 2,000 to 3,000 for the water-based, and is positioned for dense, color-sensitive surfaces. Choose the water-based version wherever solvent-based products are not permitted.
Do I need a densifier first?
SR2 works as a standalone product, but Ameripolish specifies 3D HS or 3D HSL densifier for optimum performance. The densifier also expands SR2's coverage rate, so densifying properly reduces how much resistor the job consumes.
How long until we can use the space?
Light foot traffic once it is dry to the touch and protected for an hour. Oil and acid resistance kicks in at 24 hours, and full cure is 7 days.
It left a haze after it dried. Did I do something wrong?
Haze is normal and expected. Remove it by burnishing with a 3000-grit or finer diamond pad, or auto-scrub with a white pad. Heavy haze usually means the product puddled instead of being spread out - mop out puddles as you go.
