This is the version of EDCO's black accessory box that arrives ready to use. Where the empty 12001 is bought to organize tooling a contractor already owns, the 12004 comes supplied with the two change tools that actually make a tooling swap possible: the hammer and the punch used to drive the wooden wedges that hold accessories on the multi-accessory disc.
Built for
- Crews setting up a first EDCO grinder and needing the change tools with it
- Replacing a box where the hammer or punch has gone missing
- Rental fleets that want each machine's tooling to go out complete
- Second trucks and second crews running the same tooling on another site
- Keeping Dyma-Serts and the tools that fit them in one place
What the hammer and punch are for
EDCO's tooling does not bolt on. Dyma-Serts and Strip-Serts are held to the multi-accessory disc by wooden wedges, and those wedges have to be driven home so the tooling cannot work loose under load. The punch is what contacts the wedge; the hammer drives the punch. The same pair breaks seized tooling loose at changeover. What you must not do is strike an accessory directly, because that damages its self-adjusting system and the accessory then has to be replaced. Having the correct tools in the box is what keeps a crew from improvising with whatever is in the truck.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between this and the 12001?
The 12001 is the same black box supplied empty. The 12004 arrives with the hammer and punch already in it.
Are Dyma-Serts included?
No. The box contains the change tools, not the tooling. Dyma-Serts, Strip-Serts, wedges and grinding stones are ordered separately.
What is the punch actually for?
It contacts the wooden wedge that locks an accessory to the multi-accessory disc. The hammer drives the punch, and the wedge holds the tooling in position while the grinder runs.
Can I strike the tooling directly instead of using a wedge and punch?
No. A direct blow damages the accessory's self-adjusting system and the accessory has to be replaced. That is the whole reason the punch exists.
Which colour box should I order?
Black is EDCO's Dyma-Sert colour and red, part 12002, is the Strip-Sert colour. Contractors carrying both tooling families usually buy both so crews can tell them apart at a glance.
