Can I use Strip-Serts to grind concrete smooth?
No. Strip-Serts are made to ride on top of concrete and shear off coatings. Running them on bare concrete dulls the carbide tips quickly and the work stops. Use diamond-grit pucks for concrete grinding, polishing, and surface prep.
How long does a set of carbides last?
It depends entirely on the coating and the floor. Soft mastic and paint may give you several thousand square feet of stripping per set. Tar, hardened epoxy, or fiberglass cuts life much shorter. Rotate to a fresh carbide edge before the cut quality drops.
What grinder do I need to run these?
Any EDCO Magna-Trap floor grinder, including the SEC-NG single-disc and 2EC dual-disc machines. Match the pack to the head count on your machine - dual-disc grinders run two sets of tooling.
How is this different from the A105 Pack 5?
The A106 Pack 6 includes 6 StripSert blocks with carbides and wedges. The A105 Pack 5 is the 5-block configuration. Choose pack count based on your grinder head and how many spare blocks you want for fast carbide rotation on the job.
Do the wedges wear out too?
Yes. Wedges hold the carbide block in the grinder head and they take impact and heat over time. Replace wedges as part of routine grinder maintenance.
