Will it remove ceramic tile?
For loose or already-cracked ceramic, yes. For fully bonded ceramic over thinset, you typically pre-break the tile with a hammer and then use the TS-8 to pop the pieces off the thinset bed. It is not a substitute for a powered stripper on solid bonded tile.
Does the blade replace?
Yes. EDCO sells replacement blades; most contractors swap a blade after a few large jobs as it dulls. A sharp blade does roughly twice the work of a dull one with the same effort.
Why pick the manual TS-8 over the powered EDCO TS-8 model?

Can it remove glue-down hardwood?

How do I keep the blade angle right while stripping?
Hold the handle at a 30-45 degree angle to the floor, keep the blade flat against the substrate, and push from the legs rather than the back. The wrong angle either skates over the tile or buries the blade and stops forward motion. New crews tend to push too steep; field-experienced demo guys keep the blade almost parallel to the floor.
Sharpening and blade replacement schedule?
Run the blade until it stops cutting cleanly - typically several thousand square feet of VCT or several hundred square feet of ceramic - then either flat-grind the edge on a bench grinder or replace with EDCO genuine blade stock. Cheap aftermarket blades chip on rebar and embedded staples; OEM tool steel blades hold up better in heavy demo.
What about asbestos-containing flooring?
Manual stripping of suspected ACM (asbestos-containing material) requires a licensed abatement contractor, wet-method procedures, and HEPA cleanup, all per your local AHERA and OSHA rules. The TS-8 is not approved as an abatement tool; consult your AHJ before scraping any pre-1980s VAT or sheet vinyl.
