Electrolux Power Nozzle Elbow, Blue - Guardian Replacement

The elbow is the hinged joint where the wand meets the power nozzle on an Electrolux canister, and it takes every bit of the leverage you apply pushing and pulling the head across a floor. It is also plastic, and after years of that it cracks - usually at the clasp or the pivot. This is the blue replacement elbow for Guardian and compatible Electrolux power nozzles, which restores a solid wand connection without replacing the whole nozzle.

Built for

  • Electrolux Guardian canister vacuum power nozzles
  • Electrolux power nozzles using a two-piece plastic wand set
  • Nozzles where the wand no longer locks in or wobbles at the joint
  • Owners with a cracked elbow or a broken retaining clasp
  • Vacuum repair shops servicing Electrolux canisters

Use cases

Restoring a wand that will not stay locked. A metal wand drops into the elbow and is held by a clasp. When that clasp wears or breaks, the wand pulls loose mid-stroke, or the nozzle flops rather than pivoting cleanly. Replacing the elbow puts a fresh clasp and a tight pivot back in the assembly, which is what makes the machine feel solid to steer again.

Saving the nozzle rather than replacing it. A power nozzle contains its own motor, brushroll and belt, and all of it is usually still good when the elbow fails. The elbow is a small moulded part and swapping it is a straightforward bench repair, so a cracked joint should not be the reason a working nozzle gets thrown away.

Preventing the next break. Most elbow failures come from lifting or dragging the nozzle by the wand at a steep angle, which loads the joint in the direction it was not designed for. Once the new elbow is in, steering with the wand low and lifting the nozzle by the nozzle body will take a lot of stress off the part.

Frequently asked questions

Which power nozzles does this elbow fit?

It fits Electrolux Guardian power nozzles and the PN4, PN5, PN6, PN6A and PN7 style nozzles that use a two-piece plastic wand set. Compare the shape and the clasp on your existing elbow before ordering if you are unsure.

What does the elbow actually do?

It is the pivoting joint between the wand and the power nozzle. The wand locks into it with a clasp, and the elbow lets the nozzle lie flat while you hold the wand at a comfortable angle.

How is it replaced?

Remove the screws on the underside of the power nozzle and lift off the top cover, which exposes the elbow. It lifts out and the replacement drops in. Unplug the machine before opening the nozzle.

Does the color matter?

The color is cosmetic and matched to the original nozzle trim. The blue elbow is the match for blue-trimmed Guardian nozzles. A different color will fit and function identically if the shape matches.

Why did my original elbow break?

The most common cause is lifting or dragging the nozzle by the wand at a steep angle, which puts leverage on the pivot and the clasp. Steering with the wand low and lifting the nozzle by its body significantly extends elbow life.
