This is the replacement screw-on cover for the Hydro-Force Hydro-Filter, the in-line waste filter that carpet cleaning and restoration crews run between the wand hose and the recovery tank. Cover only - the part that gets cross-threaded, dropped on a driveway or left behind on a job.
Why a lost or damaged cover matters
The cover is what seals the filter. A cracked or cross-threaded lid leaks vacuum, and vacuum leaked at the filter is lift lost at the wand - which shows up as slower drying times and more passes on every job, long before anyone connects it to the lid. Because the Hydro-Filter is sold as separate service components, a bad cover does not mean buying a whole new filter.
Use cases
- Cover cracked or cross-threaded - restores a proper seal on an otherwise good filter body.
- Cover lost on a job - the cleanout happens outdoors and lids get set down and forgotten.
- Restoring full lift at the wand - eliminates a vacuum leak at the filter.
- Truckmount and portable extraction - keeps the in-line filter protecting the blower or vac motor.
- Stocking wear parts - distributors and multi-van operations keeping spares on the shelf.
What is and is not included
This is the cover on its own. The O-ring is a separate part, AC10D, and it is worth ordering alongside a new cover - an old, flattened O-ring will leak against a brand new lid and undo the point of the repair. The complete Hydro-Filter family is: AC10A cover, AC10B body, AC10C stainless mesh screen and AC10D O-ring, with a flash-cuff version of the filter also available.
Working notes
The screw-on design replaced the clamp-and-latch covers used on earlier in-line filters specifically because the latches snapped. It is a real improvement, but techs note the lid can thread down very tight under vacuum - crack it loose before the system is under load rather than wrestling it on a wet driveway. The other standing recommendation from the field is to clean the filter out with the recovery tank after every job; a filter left loaded overnight becomes a mold and odor source, and that odor travels back through the hose line.

Frequently asked questions
Does the gasket come with it?
No. The O-ring is a separate part, AC10D. Order it alongside the cover if your existing O-ring is flattened or cracked, since a worn O-ring will leak against a new lid.
Will it fit an older AC10 filter body?
It is the current replacement cover for the AC10 filter family. If your unit is an older generation or a different brand, compare the thread and diameter against the cover you are removing before ordering.
Can I buy just the stainless screen instead?
Yes. The screen is AC10C and is sold separately, as is the body, AC10B.
Does the filter work with 1.5 inch hose?
The filter is built around 2 inch vacuum hose. Running it on 1.5 inch hose requires an expanded cuff or reducer.
Why should I clean the filter out after every job?
A loaded filter left overnight holds moisture and organic soil, which becomes a mold and odor source. Techs clean it out at the same time as the recovery tank for that reason.
