The MK-414D is MK Diamond's Standard Grade high speed blade for hard brick, and this is the 10-inch size, part number 151406. It is bought by masons, hardscape crews and remodelers who cut brick, block and pavers on a handheld cut-off saw or grinder rather than a masonry table saw. The bond is the point: hard brick is dense and fires a blade quickly, and a blade matched to it keeps an open cutting edge instead of glazing over after a few cuts. At 10 inches it is a blade for trimming and sizing units on site, not for deep slab work.
Use cases
- Cutting hard brick and pavers. Sizing face brick, thin brick and clay pavers on site without the chipping a masonry abrasive wheel leaves.
- Block and CMU. Trimming concrete block for openings, corners and coursing.
- Handheld cut-off work. Running on a high-speed saw or grinder where a table saw cannot reach.
- Hardscape and landscape. Cutting retaining-wall block, caps and edging to fit a curve.
- Repair and remodel demolition. Opening small penetrations in brick or block for conduit, vents and anchors.

Fits
The 151406 uses a DM-5/8 inch arbor, the common size on handheld grinders and small cut-off saws that take a 10-inch blade. Confirm your tool's maximum blade diameter and check that its no-load speed does not exceed the maximum operating speed marked on the blade before mounting it.
Frequently asked questions
Why a high speed blade instead of a general purpose one?
High speed blades are bonded for the surface speed a handheld cut-off saw or grinder produces, which is much higher than a table saw. A blade bonded for a slow masonry table saw will glaze at grinder RPM; one bonded for the grinder will cut and stay open.
Wet or dry?
The MK-414D is a dry-cutting blade. A dry blade can also be run wet where the tool allows it, which cuts heat and dust and usually stretches blade life. A blade marked wet-only must never be run dry.
Will it cut concrete block as well as hard brick?
Yes. It is bonded for hard brick, which is the harder of the two, so block cuts readily. If most of your work is soft block or green concrete rather than hard brick, a blade bonded for those materials will last longer.
The blade quit cutting but the segments are still tall. Why?
Glazing: the bond has smeared over the diamonds, usually from heat or from forcing the cut. Dress the blade by cutting into an abrasive material such as a concrete block until it opens back up, and let the blade do the work instead of leaning on it.
Does the direction arrow matter?
Yes. A blade mounted backwards will still cut, but it eats the diamond quickly and shortens the blade's life sharply. Check the arrow on the blade against the rotation of the saw every time you mount it.
