The 12 inch MK-505 is the premium-grade cured concrete blade for contractors running real horsepower. MK publishes this line for saws in the 8 to 20 hp range and gives it a 12 mm segment, two millimetres taller than the standard MK-500. That is not a cosmetic difference. It is twenty percent more diamond depth to consume before the blade is finished, and a bond built to survive the feed rate a bigger saw can push without rounding the segments over.
Built for
- Daily production sawing on cured concrete slabs and pavement
- High-horsepower walk-behind saws and larger cut-off machines
- Control joint and slab work where blade changes cost more than blades
- Concrete cutting contractors billing by the foot
- Crews who wear out standard-grade blades faster than they would like

How to choose between grades
MK publishes its cured-concrete contractor blades in tiers that differ on segment height and the horsepower they are bonded for, not on cosmetics. The MK-500 standard grade carries a 10 mm segment and is rated 5 to 12 hp. The MK-505 premium grade carries a 12 mm segment and is rated 8 to 20 hp. Taller segment means more diamond to consume before the blade is spent, and the higher horsepower rating means the bond is built to survive the feed rate a bigger saw can push. Putting a premium blade on an underpowered saw will not make it cut faster, and putting a standard blade on a 20 hp saw will simply wear it out sooner. Match the blade to the saw first, then to the material.
Safe operation
This is a wet-cutting blade and it must be run with a continuous water feed. Running a wet blade dry is the single most common cause of segment loss, core warping and a scrapped blade, and it also puts respirable crystalline silica into the air. Water does two jobs at once: it carries heat out of the core and it knocks the dust down at the cut. Confirm your saw's arbor matches the blade before mounting, seat the blade flat against the flange, and never exceed the maximum operating speed stamped on the blade.
Frequently asked questions
Is the MK-505 worth the premium over the MK-500?
It depends entirely on your saw. The MK-505 is bonded for 8 to 20 hp and carries a 12 mm segment. On a saw under 8 hp you will not reach the feed rate the bond is designed for, and the standard MK-500 is the better value. On a 15 hp saw cutting every day, the taller segment and harder bond pay for themselves in blade changes you do not make.
What material is this blade for?
Cured concrete. MK publishes it under its cured-concrete contractor blades. It is not a tile, stone or green-concrete blade, and using it on those materials will not give you the life the bond is capable of.
What sizes does the MK-505 come in?
MK publishes the line from 12 inch up to 36 inch, all on a 1 inch arbor. The 12 inch is offered in .125, .250 and .375 kerf, so the same diameter is available in three widths depending on what the cut has to accept.
Does it run wet?
Yes, wet only. Continuous water feed is required. It cools the steel core, flushes slurry out of the kerf and keeps respirable silica out of the air.
Discount Cleaning Products is an authorized MK Diamond dealer. We stock the contractor blade lines rather than drop-shipping whatever a marketplace listing happens to carry, so the part number you order is the part number MK prints in its own catalog. Our US-based team can confirm arbor size, kerf and horsepower fit against your saw before you buy, and can help you match bond hardness to the aggregate you are actually cutting.
