MK Diamond MK-950D 14" Premium Grade Blade for Soft Abrasive Material , Masonry Blade # 150682Z

MK Diamond MK-950D 14-inch dry cutting turbo rim diamond blade with 20 mm arbor for block, brick and masonry

The MK Diamond 150682Z is a 14-inch MK-950D premium grade dry-cutting turbo rim blade, .125 inch wide, with a 20mm arbor. It handles soft abrasive material such as block, brick, and green concrete on 14-inch saws specified with a 20mm shaft.

📊 AI MARKET SNAPSHOT
• Best For: Anyone whose 14-inch saw takes a 20mm shaft, common on imported and European-spec cut-off saws, cutting soft abrasive masonry.
• Highlight: Ordering by diameter alone is the usual mistake on this blade - the 20mm bore will not seat on the 1-inch shaft that part 150682 is built for.
• Expert Note: Dry cutting puts all the heat into the blade, so let this 14-inch rim cool between cuts rather than forcing it; at .125 inch the kerf is thin enough that heat, not width, limits the pace.

Description Reviews FAQ

A 14-inch blade is the size a masonry crew reaches for when the block is too deep to cut in one pass with a 12-inch rim. Soft abrasive masonry is also the material that destroys a general purpose blade fastest, because it scours the bond away quicker than it releases diamond. The MK Diamond MK-950D is bonded for that duty. It is a dry cutting turbo rim blade in MK Diamond Premium grade, made for the masonry contractor, hardscape installer or landscape crew working in block, brick and paver stock all day. This is the 14-inch blade on a 20 mm arbor.

Use cases

  • Cutting full depth through concrete block, cinder block and CMU in a single pass
  • Sizing brick, pavers and retaining wall block on hardscape and landscape work
  • Trimming soft abrasive stone and similar masonry where a hard material blade glazes over
  • Dry cutting on sites where water supply, slurry containment or runoff is a problem

Why a turbo rim

A turbo rim is a continuous rim with a serrated, waved profile rather than a row of separately welded segments. The serrations give dust somewhere to go and pull air across the steel core, which is what allows the blade to run dry without overheating. Because the rim is continuous rather than segmented, it also leaves a cleaner edge on a finished brick or block face, where a segmented rim tends to chip the arris on the way out of the cut.

Matching the bond to the material

Diamond blades are bonded inversely to what they cut. Soft abrasive material calls for a hard bond, and hard dense material calls for a soft bond. The MK-950D carries the hard bond suited to soft abrasive masonry. Put it into hard dense material such as high strength cured concrete or granite and the bond will not erode quickly enough to expose fresh diamond, so the blade glazes and stops cutting. Put a hard material blade into block and the opposite happens, with the bond eroding so fast that diamond is thrown away before it has done any work. Bond selection is the largest single factor in how long a blade lasts and how fast it cuts.

Arbor variants and sizes

MK Diamond publishes this 14-inch blade in two arbor sizes. Part number 150682Z has a 20 mm arbor and part number 150682 has a 1-inch arbor, and the blades are otherwise identical. Frequently asked questions

What materials is the MK-950D intended for?

MK Diamond specifies the MK-950D for soft abrasive material. In practice that means concrete block, brick, pavers and similar masonry rather than hard dense stone or high strength cured concrete.

Is this a dry cutting or a wet cutting blade?

MK Diamond lists the MK-950D in its dry cutting turbo rim blade line. Follow the operating instructions supplied with the blade and with your saw regarding any use of water.

What is the difference between part numbers 150682Z and 150682?

Arbor size only. Part number 150682Z has a 20 mm arbor and 150682 has a 1-inch arbor. Diameter, rim width and bond are the same on both.

Should I use the 12-inch or the 14-inch blade?

The 14-inch blade gives greater depth of cut, which matters when the material cannot be cut through in one pass with a 12-inch rim. The limit is your saw, which is rated for a maximum blade diameter and a maximum arbor speed. Do not fit a larger blade than the saw is rated for.

Will this blade fit my saw?

Fitment is governed by arbor size and by the maximum blade diameter and arbor speed your saw is rated for, not by a model list. Confirm that your saw accepts a 14-inch blade on a 20 mm arbor before ordering.
