Heated extractors lose most of their advantage in the last few inches. The element does its work inside the heater tube, and if that tube is bare, a large share of the energy bleeds into the machine housing instead of into the water on its way to the wand. Operators notice it as solution that is warm at the tool rather than hot, and as a heater box that is uncomfortably hot to the touch. The Sandia 10-0904 is the factory foam insulation for the heater assembly, and it is one of those parts that is almost always worth replacing while the machine is already open for a heater or element repair.
Built for
- Sandia heated extractors where solution temperature at the wand has fallen off.
- Machines being reassembled after a heater tube assembly or element replacement.
- Older units whose original foam has compressed, torn, or absorbed detergent.
- Shops doing a preventive heater service rather than waiting for a no-heat call.
When to replace the foam
Pull the heater cover and look at the wrap. Foam that has flattened, torn at the seams, gone brittle, or soaked up solution has lost most of its insulating value and should come out. Replacing it is straightforward and adds nothing to the electrical work, but it should be done with the machine unplugged and the heater cold. Note that new foam will not fix a genuine no-heat fault. If the machine produces no heat at all, check the heater thermostat, the element itself, and the second circuit that heated machines require, since a heater and a machine on the same circuit will trip or starve each other.

Sandia warranty
- 2-year warranty on all vacuum motors.
- 2-year warranty on 100 psi pumps only; 1-year warranty on all other pumps.
- 90 days on parts, tools, and accessories.
The warranty does not cover defects or failures resulting from improper or absent maintenance, misapplication, misuse, tampering, or substitution of provided parts. It also does not cover a pump stored in freezing conditions, a pump run for extended time with no water, use of powdered detergent, failure to flush the system regularly with a vinegar solution, filters removed from the solution tank, or pumps with inline filters that are not cleaned regularly. Sandia covers up to one year of service labor at the manufacturer calculated hourly labor rate when performed by a manufacturer-authorized service provider; after one year the original retail purchaser is responsible for all labor costs. Authorized warranty replacement parts must come directly from the manufacturer, and any other parts void the warranty. Contact the manufacturer before changing out parts, and do not return parts or equipment without an RMA number and approval. Warranty starts on the purchase date by the original purchaser from an authorized distributor, subject to proof of purchase.
Frequently asked questions
Will new insulation fix a machine that makes no heat at all?
No. Insulation only reduces heat loss. A total no-heat condition points to the element, the thermostat, or the power supply, not the foam.
Why do heated extractors need two circuits?
The machine motor and the heater each draw substantial current. Running both on one 15 or 20-amp circuit trips breakers or leaves the heater underpowered, so the heater and the machine should be plugged into separate circuits.
How often should the foam be replaced?
There is no fixed interval. Replace it whenever it is compressed, torn, brittle, or wet, and any time the heater tube assembly or element is replaced.
Does insulating the heater make the water hotter?
It helps the solution reach and hold the temperature the element is capable of by cutting losses into the housing. It does not raise the element output.
Is this safe to install myself?
The foam itself is a mechanical part, but it sits against heater components. Unplug the machine, let the heater cool completely, and follow the machine service instructions.
Buying from an authorized Sandia dealer
Discount Cleaning Products is an authorized Sandia dealer, so this is the factory part rather than a look-alike. That matters twice over on a machine still under warranty: Sandia requires warranty replacement parts to come directly from the manufacturer, and substituting other parts voids coverage. Our US-based team works with these extractors every day and can confirm the right part number for your serial and pressure rating before you order, so you are not guessing from a parts diagram.
