The male quick disconnect is the half of the coupling that takes the abuse - it gets dropped on concrete, dragged across grout, and snapped in and out of the socket dozens of times a day. The Sandia 10-0864-QC-MALE is the genuine replacement nipple for the 15-inch turbo tool's solution line. Hard surface contractors and facility maintenance techs replace it when a nicked or scored nipple starts weeping at the joint, because a damaged nipple will destroy a brand new socket in a matter of weeks.
Built for
- Tile and grout crews swapping between a spinner, a wand and a hand tool on the same extractor
- Restoration techs whose tool line gets coupled and uncoupled at every room change
- Facility maintenance departments standardizing their tool connections on genuine Sandia fittings
- Anyone who just replaced a female quick disconnect and wants to stop the wear at its source
What this part does
The male quick disconnect is the nipple that seats inside the female socket and carries pressurized cleaning solution into the tool. Its sealing surface has to be smooth and round to work. A ding from a drop, a burr from a dragged edge, or pitting from hard water gives the socket o-ring something to cut itself on, which is why a scored nipple shows up as a coupling that leaks no matter how many new sockets you put on it.
When to replace it
- A coupling that still leaks after the female half was replaced
- Nicks, flat spots, burrs or scoring anywhere on the sealing surface
- Pitting, scale or corrosion from hard water or aggressive chemistry
- A nipple that no longer locks in with a solid, positive click
Fitment
Genuine Sandia part 10-0864-QC-MALE for the Sandia 15-inch turbo tool solution line. Sold individually. The mating socket is part number 10-0864-QC-FEMALE; replacing both at once is the usual move on a tool that has been leaking for a while.
Getting the most life out of it
Cap or bag the nipple when the tool is stored so it is not sitting on the van floor collecting grit, and wipe the sealing face before every connection. Flushing clean water through the system at the end of the job clears chemistry out of the fitting before it can dry and etch the surface.
Specifications
Sandia warranty policy (as published by the manufacturer): 2-year warranty on all vacuum motors; 2-year warranty on 100 psi pumps only, 1-year warranty on all other pumps; 90 days on parts, tools and accessories.
The warranty does not cover defects or failures resulting from improper or absent maintenance, misapplication, misuse, tampering, or substitution of provided parts. It also excludes pumps stored in freezing conditions, pumps run for extended periods with no water, use of powdered detergent, failure to flush the system regularly with a vinegar solution, filters removed from the solution tank, and inline filters that are not cleaned regularly. Sandia covers up to one year of service labor at the manufacturer's calculated hourly rate when the work is performed by a manufacturer-authorized service provider; after one year the original retail purchaser is responsible for all labor. Authorized warranty replacement parts must come directly from the manufacturer - using other parts voids the warranty. Contact the manufacturer before changing out any part, and do not return parts or equipment without an RMA number and prior approval. Warranty starts on the purchase date by the original purchaser from an authorized distributor, subject to proof of purchase.
Frequently asked questions
I replaced the female coupler and it still leaks. Why?
Almost always a damaged male nipple. If the sealing surface is nicked or scored, it will cut a new o-ring quickly and the leak comes right back. Replace the nipple as well.
Can I use a generic quick connect nipple instead?
It is not recommended. Seal geometry and thread profiles vary between manufacturers, and Sandia's warranty terms require that replacement parts come from the manufacturer.
Should I use thread sealant?
Yes, on the pipe threads - not on the sealing face. Follow the fitting's thread type and keep sealant out of the flow path so nothing migrates downstream into the jets.
