When a janitorial crew has to detail office chairs, waiting-room seating, cubicle panels and stair treads with the same backpack vacuum they use for open floor, the 5-inch upholstery tool is the attachment that makes the second half of that job fast. It snaps onto a standard 1-1/2 inch Sandia wand, puts the full airflow of a Raven backpack into a narrow 5-inch mouth, and pulls embedded grit out of fabric that a 14-inch floor tool simply rides over.
This is the same upholstery tool that ships in the Sandia 10-0034 five-piece standard tool kit, sold on its own so you can replace a cracked or lost tool without rebuying the whole kit. Building service contractors typically buy several at a time and keep one on each cart, because the upholstery tool is the piece that walks off first.

Frequently asked questions
Will the 10-0031 fit my Sandia Raven backpack?
Yes. It is the factory upholstery tool for the Raven 6-quart and 10-quart backpack series and fits the standard 1-1/2 inch Sandia wand and hose cuff. If your machine has been fitted with a 1-1/4 inch wand, you will need an adapter.
Is this the same tool that comes in the 10-0034 kit?
It is. The 10-0034 five-piece standard tool kit contains a two-piece wand, a 14-inch scalloped floor tool, a 17-inch crevice tool, a 3-inch dust brush and this 5-inch upholstery tool. Buying 10-0031 separately is the way to replace just the upholstery tool.
Can I use it on hard surfaces?
You can, and crews often do for window sills, ledges and baseboards. Keep in mind the tool is shaped for fabric pickup, so a dust brush or floor tool will be faster on long runs of hard surface.
How do I keep it working well?
Clear hair and thread from the mouth of the tool at the end of each shift and check the wand fitting for cracks. A split fitting leaks air and is the most common reason a tool feels like it has lost suction.
