This is the middle plate in MK Diamond's three 36-inch MK-505 offerings: a premium-grade, laser-welded wet-cutting blade for cured concrete, .210 thick on a 1-inch arbor. It is the general-purpose choice at the largest diameter a walk-behind flat saw normally runs.
Built for concrete sawing contractors, civil and DOT crews, and demolition subcontractors running large flat saws
Use cases
- Deep structural cuts where the line has to hold. The .210 plate has enough stiffness to keep a 36-inch blade tracking at full depth without moving as much material as the .250.
- Bridge and overpass deck sectioning. Cutting a deck into liftable panels is a full-depth job that rewards a stiff plate.
- Heavy slab and foundation demolition. Perimeter cuts around a foundation block keep the break inside the line.
- Utility and drainage trench layout in thick pavement. One pass from the surface instead of a stepped cut saves a substantial amount of saw time.
Choosing between the MK-505 sizes
Against its two 36-inch siblings this .210 sits in the middle. The .187 is thinner, faster and easier on the saw. The .250 is the heaviest plate MK builds at this diameter and the most resistant to deflection. The .210 is the one to pick when neither extreme is clearly indicated and the saw is properly powered.

Getting a full life out of the blade
Most large-diameter blades that come back worn out early were not defective. They were run on a saw that could not turn them, run dry or run short of water, or pushed harder than the bond could shed. MK rates the MK-505 line at 8 to 20 horsepower, and the larger the plate the closer to the top of that range you want to be. A saw that bogs drops the blade below its efficient surface speed, the segments stop shedding worn diamond, and the blade glazes over instead of cutting.
Keep the water on and keep it even on both sides of the plate. Water is doing three jobs at once: holding the core temperature down so the plate stays true, protecting the laser-welded joint between segment and core, and flushing slurry out of the kerf so the diamond stays in contact with concrete rather than with its own cuttings. Let the blade set its own feed rate. Forcing a large blade into a hard-aggregate slab does not speed the cut, it deflects the plate and rounds the segments. If a blade does glaze, a pass through an abrasive material will usually re-expose the diamond; running it harder will not. Finally, check the arbor and flanges before every blade change, because a worn or dirty flange face is a common and avoidable cause of a blade that will not track straight.
Fitment and ordering notes
This blade is supplied with a 1-inch arbor, the standard shaft size on the walk-behind flat saws it is intended for. Before ordering any large-diameter plate, confirm two things on your machine: that it is rated for this blade diameter, and that the blade guard will physically accept it. A saw will often spin a blade it was never rated to carry, and that is neither safe nor productive. MK also notes that additional blade diameters and special arbors in the MK-505 range are available on request.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the .187, .210 and .250 36-inch MK-505?
Plate thickness only. Thicker plates are stiffer and cut a wider joint but take more power to turn. Diameter, arbor, segment height and bond are the same across all three.
How much horsepower do I need?
MK rates the MK-505 at 8 to 20 horsepower. A 36-inch blade wants a saw at the high end. An underpowered saw drops the blade below efficient surface speed and the segments glaze over.
Is this a wet blade?
Yes. Run water. It cools the plate, protects the laser-welded segment bond and suppresses silica dust.
Does it fit a 1-inch arbor saw?
Yes, the blade is supplied with a 1-inch arbor.
Is it for green or cured concrete?
Cured. MK builds separate blades for green concrete, which abrades very differently.
