Fabrication shops cutting marble, travertine and limestone need a blade bonded for soft stone, not a general-purpose stone blade. The MK Diamond MK-62M is MK's premium-grade segmented-rim wet-cutting blade for marble, and this is the 14-inch size with a thin .095 kerf and a 1-inch arbor.
Built for stone fabricators, countertop shops, monument shops and tile contractors
Use cases
- Marble slab and tile cutting on a bridge or rail saw. The MK-62M bond is formulated for marble specifically, which is what keeps the cut edge clean rather than chipped.
- Travertine and limestone fabrication. Softer calcareous stones behave like marble under a blade and take the same bond.
- Sink and cooktop cutouts in soft stone. A thin .095 kerf removes less material on an inside cut, which matters when the finished opening has a tight tolerance.
- Monument and architectural stone work. Clean-edged cuts on polished marble are the whole point of a material-specific blade.
Choosing between the MK-62M sizes
At 14 inches this is the smallest of the four MK-62M sizes stocked here and the only one with a .095 kerf rather than .125. The thinner plate takes a narrower bite, which suits smaller bridge and rail saws and cuts where material yield matters. The 16, 18 and 20-inch MK-62M blades all run the heavier .125 plate and reach deeper.

Getting a full life out of the blade
In a stone shop the two things that end a blade early are the wrong bond and not enough water. Bond first: stone blades are formulated to the material, and the segments only stay sharp when the stone abrades them at the rate the bond was designed around. Put a soft-stone blade in dense, high-quartz granite and the wear turns rapid and uneven; put a granite blade in polished marble and the edge quality suffers. Ordering by part number rather than by diameter is what keeps this from happening in a shop that runs both.
Water second. A segmented-rim wet blade needs a steady feed on both sides of the plate. Water controls the core temperature, holds the segment bond together, flushes slurry out of the kerf and knocks down the respirable silica that cutting stone releases. Beyond that, the habits that protect a finished edge are the ordinary ones: check that the saw's flanges are clean and undamaged, let the blade feed at its own rate instead of forcing it, and on polished stock take a shallow scoring pass before committing to the full-depth cut. None of that is specific to MK blades, but all of it shows up in the difference between a blade that lasts a season and one that does not.
Fitment and ordering notes
This blade is supplied with a 1-inch arbor, which is standard on the bridge and rail saws it is built for. MK states that stock arbors can be bushed down to smaller sizes, but that has to be specified at the time the blade is ordered rather than fixed afterwards. MK also lists additional diameters and special arbors as available on request. Confirm your saw's rated maximum blade diameter and its guarding before stepping up a size.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use the MK-62M on granite?
It is not the right blade for it. Marble blades and granite blades use different bond formulations. Running a marble-bonded blade on dense, high-quartz granite typically produces rapid and uneven segment wear. MK publishes the MK-62G for granite.
Is this a wet blade?
Yes, the MK-62M is a segmented-rim wet-cutting blade. Water controls heat, extends life and suppresses silica dust.
What is the segment height?
MK publishes an 8mm segment height across the MK-62M line.
Why does a marble blade need a different bond than a granite blade?
Soft stone does not abrade a bond quickly. Marble blades are built around that fact so the segments stay sharp and the edge stays clean; a bond meant for granite behaves differently in soft stone.
Can the 1-inch arbor be reduced?
MK states that stock arbors can be bushed to smaller sizes, but that has to be specified when the blade is ordered.
