Concrete flatwork contractors and control-joint sawcutting crews use the MK Diamond MK-605W 14" (356mm) wet blade to cut crack-control joints into fresh, uncured concrete while the slab is still soft enough to saw cleanly but firm enough to hold a straight line. Laser-welded segments and a bond formulated specifically for green concrete resist the chipping and raveling that a standard cured-concrete blade causes on a soft, still-curing surface, helping crews get joints in before random shrinkage cracks form and before a costly callback.
Use Cases
- Early/green-cut control joints on driveways, sidewalks, and slabs-on-grade, cut while the concrete is still workable enough to avoid raveling the edge
- Same-day joint sawing on commercial and industrial flatwork pours, where crews need to get ahead of shrinkage cracking before it starts
- Decorative and stamped concrete layout cuts, where a clean edge on soft concrete matters as much as hitting the timing window
- DOT and highway paving crews cutting contraction joints in fresh pavement within a tight curing window
- General wet cutting of fresh, uncured slabs where a standard dry-rated or cured-concrete blade would glaze, overheat, or chip the cut edge

Frequently asked questions
What makes the MK-605W different from a standard concrete blade?
The MK-605W uses laser-welded segments and a bond formulated specifically for fresh, uncured concrete. A standard cured-concrete blade is built for hardened, fully-set slabs and will chip or ravel the edge of a green cut; the MK-605W’s softer, purpose-matched bond is designed for the abrasive, still-curing surface instead.
How soon after the pour can I cut with this blade?
Timing depends on the mix design, temperature, and finish, so there is no single hour mark that applies everywhere. Most crews start once the slab can bear the saw’s weight without leaving a wheel print, and aim to have joints cut before shrinkage cracking begins. Check with your finisher or mix supplier for the expected window on a given pour.
Can the MK-605W be run dry?
No. This is a wet-cutting blade only. Water is required to cool the segments and clear slurry during the cut; running it dry will overheat the blade and shorten its life sharply.
What saws is the MK-605W compatible with?
It is built for standard walk-behind concrete saws in the 8–20 HP range with a 1" arbor. It is not an early-entry (Soff-Cut style) blade, so it will not fit saws that require a triangular or proprietary arbor.
Will this blade also cut cured, hardened concrete?
It is not the right tool for that job. The bond is matched to green concrete’s softer, more abrasive surface; for hardened slabs, use a blade built for cured concrete so the segments wear correctly.
