Traffic lanes are where carpet cleaning jobs are won or lost. Hallways, doorways and the paths between desks collect body oils, kitchen grease and tracked-in film that bonds to fiber, and no amount of hot water through the wand will lift that on its own. FastBreak is the pre-spray HydraMaster built for exactly that soil - an ultra-concentrated blend of solvents, surfactants and alkaline builders that you spray down, let dwell, and then extract.

The case of four one-gallon jugs is aimed at working carpet cleaning contractors and in-house facility crews who go through pre-spray by the drum over a season. What makes it economical is the dilution: at the standard 1:32 rate one gallon of concentrate makes 32 gallons of ready-to-use solution, and on lightly soiled residential carpet you can pull it back as far as 1:64 and still get results. Special thickening agents let the formula carry about 30% more active ingredients than a typical pre-spray, which is why it holds up at those rates.

Built for

  • Heavy commercial traffic lanes - corridors, entryways, elevator lobbies and office walkways
  • Greasy and oily soil in restaurants, break rooms, bars and food service areas
  • Restorative cleaning on carpet that has gone several cycles past its last deep clean
  • Residential stain-resist carpet, where the ready-to-use pH of 9.5 keeps you inside warranty provisions
  • Commercial wool carpet and all synthetic fibers when mixed and used as directed

How the chemistry works

Three things happen at once. The surfactant package wets the fiber and emulsifies oily and greasy soil so it can be carried away in water. The alkaline builders soften your water, neutralize acid soiling, and deflocculate ground-in particulate - and they also sequester mineral deposits so hard water does not blunt the cleaning. Finally, stabilizing additives hold the ultra-concentrated solids in suspension in the jug, and once the soil is released they help keep it from re-attaching to the fiber before your wand gets to it.

FastBreak or FastBreak HD?

Both are ultra-concentrated traffic lane pre-sprays from the same family. The practical difference is the solvent: FastBreak contains butyl cellosolve, while FastBreak HD is formulated with solvents generally recognized as safer. That solvent content is also why FastBreak carries shipping restrictions in a number of states - see below. If you clean in one of those states, FastBreak HD is the version to ask us about.

Shipping restriction

Because of its solvent level, FastBreak cannot be shipped to or within the following states: CA, CT, DC, DE, IN, IL, MA, MD, ME, MI, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, VA and VT. Contact us and we will point you to a compliant alternative for your area.

Frequently asked questions

What dilution rate should I use?

Start at the standard 1:32 for normal commercial soil - one gallon of concentrate makes 32 gallons of solution. On lightly soiled carpet you can go as lean as 1:64 and still clean effectively. For heavy grease, stay at the stronger end of the range and give the product dwell time before extracting.

Is FastBreak safe on wool and stain-resist carpet?

Used as directed it can be used on all synthetic fibers and on commercial wool carpet. Its ready-to-use pH of 9.5 also keeps it compliant with the warranty provisions on stain-resist residential carpet, which is where a high-pH pre-spray can get a cleaner into trouble.

Why can this not ship to my state?

FastBreak contains butyl cellosolve, and its solvent level puts it outside what some states allow. It cannot be shipped to or within CA, CT, DC, DE, IN, IL, MA, MD, ME, MI, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, VA or VT. FastBreak HD uses solvents generally recognized as safer and is the version to ask about in those states.

How is this different from FastBreak HD?

The solvent system. FastBreak uses butyl cellosolve; FastBreak HD substitutes solvents that are generally recognized as being safer. Both are ultra-concentrated traffic lane pre-sprays intended for the same kind of greasy commercial soil.

How many gallons of usable solution does a case make?

At the standard 1:32 rate, four one-gallon jugs yield roughly 128 gallons of ready-to-use pre-spray. At 1:64 on light soil that figure roughly doubles, which is what makes an ultra-concentrate worth handling.

Features
  • Dissolves greasy, oily traffic lane soil that hot water alone leaves behind
  • Stretches to 32:1 for standard soil and up to 64:1 on light soil, lowering cost per gallon of ready-to-use mix
  • Packs roughly 30% more active ingredients than conventional pre-sprays thanks to special thickening agents
  • Cleans safely on all synthetic fibers and on commercial wool at a ready-to-use pH of 9.5 when used as directed
  • Complies with stain-resist carpet warranty provisions at that pH, protecting residential jobs
  • Prevents released soil from re-attaching to fiber, so extraction pulls it out instead of redepositing it
  • Softens water and neutralizes acid soiling with alkaline builders that also sequester mineral deposits
