The Koblenz RM-1715 N is a 17-inch, 175 RPM rotary floor machine built for the crew that has to move a swing machine between floors, in and out of a van, and up a stair landing without a second person. Its RotoMold polyethylene shroud and chassis make it one of the lightest full-size industrial floor machines in its class at 81 lb net, which is the difference between a one-person job and a two-person job on a multi-floor route. Janitorial contractors, church and school custodians, gym and clinic housekeepers and small BSCs use it as the single machine that scrubs, strips, shampoos, bonnets and polishes hard floors and carpet.
Built for
- Scrubbing and stripping VCT and tile. At 175 RPM the machine has the torque to drive a black or brown pad through old finish without burning the floor.
- Bonnet cleaning and carpet shampooing. Swap the pad driver for a shampoo brush or bonnet and the same machine handles interim carpet maintenance.
- Spray buffing and polishing. A 17-inch path covers open lobby and corridor space quickly while still fitting through a standard doorway.
- Multi-floor and multi-site routes. The light RotoMold body plus a 50 ft cord means fewer outlet changes and less lifting fatigue across a shift.
- Mixed-surface facilities. Non-marking wheels and a full wrap bumper protect finished walls, door casings and furniture legs in occupied buildings.
Power comes from a 1.5 HP vibration-free motor turning through a triple planetary all-steel gear transmission, so the pad speed stays steady as pad load changes. The two-piece chromed 13-gauge steel handle adjusts for operator height and keeps the machine tracking straight instead of fighting you across the floor. Sealed double ball bearing, non-marking 5-inch wheels roll the machine over thresholds without scuffing, and the 50 ft 14-gauge three-wire grounded cord is long enough for most corridors on a single outlet.
Operators who are new to a swing machine usually find the 175 RPM class the easiest to learn on: it pulls to one side far less than a high-speed burnisher, and small handle adjustments walk the machine left or right instead of jerking it. That control is the reason 175 RPM rotaries remain the default all-purpose machine in commercial floor care even in shops that also run orbital and auto-scrub equipment.

Frequently asked questions
Is the RM-1715 N heavy enough to strip floor finish?
Yes. At 81 lb net with a 1.5 HP motor and 175 RPM pad speed it carries enough head pressure and torque to drive a stripping pad through built-up finish. For very heavy multi-layer removal, or for chemical-free dry stripping, an orbital machine such as the Koblenz Accelerator series removes finish faster.
What pad or brush does it take?
It uses standard 17 inch commercial floor pads on the included Trilock drive pad holder. Shampoo brushes, scrub brushes and bonnet drivers in the 17 inch size also fit.
Can one person carry it?
The RotoMold polyethylene body puts net weight at 81 lb, which is well below a comparable cast metal 17 inch machine. Most operators handle it alone on a hand truck or up a short flight of stairs, but two people are safer on long stair runs.
Will it work on concrete and sealed wood as well as VCT?
Yes. At 175 RPM it is safe on sealed concrete, sealed wood, terrazzo, ceramic and VCT as long as the pad grade is matched to the surface. Use the least aggressive pad that does the job.
Does it come with a solution tank?
No. The RM-1715 N is a base rotary machine. A solution tank kit and shampoo brush are available separately if you plan to run it as a shampooer.
