Ameripolish SR2 WB does the same job as solvent-based SR2 with a water-based carrier, and it exists for one very practical reason: a lot of jobs will not allow solvent-based chemistry on site. Occupied buildings, schools, hospitals, poorly ventilated interiors and jurisdictions with tight VOC rules all produce the same conversation with the general contractor. SR2 WB is the version that gets approved.
It is a penetrating stain repellent formulated to protect polished, dyed and non-dyed concrete from oil-based and water-based stains. Like the solvent version it is non-topical, so it does not form a film that can peel or wear through, and treated surfaces still breathe rather than trapping moisture. It is also rated for exposed concrete flooring, not just polished - which the solvent-based data sheet does not cover.
Built for
- Sites where solvents are prohibited. Occupied buildings, schools, hospitals and interiors with limited ventilation, plus spec-driven institutional work.
- Exposed concrete flooring. Rated for exposed as well as polished concrete, so it covers slabs that were never taken through a full polish.
- Shop and garage floors. Rated for vehicular as well as pedestrian traffic.
- Color-sensitive floors. Typically no impact on substrate color, and compatible with silicate densifiers, dyes and integral colorants.
- Facilities avoiding a strip-and-recoat cycle. Non-topical protection means reapplication rather than coating failure and removal.
Getting the application right
Apply in one continuous application with a low-pressure sprayer at 40 psi or less using a conical tip, working it in with a microfiber pad or applicator. Keep the surface wet for two to three minutes so it can penetrate, and spread the material rather than letting it pool - haze forms where it puddles, and it then has to be burnished out at 3000 grit or higher. A second coat is specified only for extremely porous surfaces, applied after the first has dried and been burnished. Work between 40 and 90 degrees F and avoid high winds. Cleanup is with mineral spirits or an equivalent solvent.

Frequently asked questions
How is this different from the solvent-based SR2?
Same job, water-based carrier. Coverage is lower at 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft per gallon versus 3,000 to 5,000, and VOC is 3.5 g/L. Choose the water-based version wherever solvent-based products are not permitted or ventilation is limited.
Will it darken or change my floor's color?
Typically no. Ameripolish states there is no impact on substrate color and lists it as compatible with silicate densifiers, dyes and integral colorants.
How long before vehicles can drive on it?
Protect from moisture and vehicular traffic for a minimum of 8 hours. Light foot traffic is fine 1 hour after it is dry, and full chemical resistance arrives at about 7 days.
Do I need two coats?
One continuous application is the standard method. A second coat is specified only for extremely porous surfaces, and only after the first coat has dried and been burnished.
Can I use it on a slab that was never polished?
Yes. The water-based SR2 is rated for exposed concrete flooring as well as new and existing polished concrete, which makes it usable on slabs that were troweled rather than diamond polished.
