MK Diamond MK-215 12" Premium Grade Tile Blade, Tile-Stone Blade # 128439

MK Diamond MK-215 12-inch premium grade continuous rim wet cutting tile and stone blade, part 128439

The MK Diamond MK-215 is a 12-inch Premium grade diamond tile blade for smooth, chip-free cutting in tile and stone. The 12-inch diameter gives the extra depth of cut that thick pavers and large-format stone need in a single pass.

📊 AI MARKET SNAPSHOT
• Best For: Stone and large-format tile work on a 12-inch wet saw, where depth of cut rather than blade cost is the limiting factor.
• Highlight: Same Premium MK-215 tile-and-stone specification as the 10-inch 128074 in a larger diameter - depth of cut and the saw it fits are the only differences between the two.
• Expert Note: A 12-inch blade only helps if the arbor and guard are rated for it, so check the saw maximum blade size before choosing this over the 10-inch version.

Description Reviews FAQ

The MK-215 is MK Diamond's premium continuous-rim wet blade for tile and stone, and it is the blade tile setters reach for when the cut has to come off the saw clean enough to install without a trim tile. A continuous rim has no gullets between segments, so there is nothing to chip the glaze as the blade exits the tile. MK builds it as a thin-rim blade on a heat-treated steel core, which is what lets it stay flat through the friction heat of a long production run. This is the 12-inch size on a 1-inch arbor.

Built for

  • Chip-free cuts on hard vitreous and dense floor tile
  • Marble, granite and other natural stone on a wet tile saw
  • Production tile work where cut quality decides how much material gets scrapped
  • Finish cuts, miters and rip cuts that will be visible in the installed floor or wall

Continuous rim versus segmented rim

A segmented blade cuts faster because the gullets clear slurry and cool the segments, but each gullet is also a small impact as it enters and leaves the material, and on glazed or vitreous tile that is what produces chipping along the cut line. A continuous rim gives up some speed to remove those impacts entirely. On tile and stone, where the cut edge is often visible in the finished installation, that trade almost always favors the continuous rim.

Operating notes

Mount the blade with clean flanges and check that it runs true before the first cut. Keep water on the rim for the full pass. Do not exceed the maximum operating speed marked on the blade. If the blade starts to slow down in the same material it was cutting well in, it has most likely glazed; a few passes in a softer abrasive material will expose fresh diamond and bring it back.

Frequently asked questions

Does the MK-215 need water?

Yes. The MK-215 is a wet-cutting blade. Running a continuous-rim tile blade dry overheats the rim and the core, which costs you both blade life and cut quality. Keep the water feeding the cut for the whole pass, not just at the start.

Will it cut porcelain without chipping?

The continuous rim is specifically there to reduce chipping on hard vitreous tile, and MK describes the MK-215 as fast cutting for smooth, chip-free cutting on tile and other stone, with particularly good results on dense floor materials. For the densest porcelain, MK also publishes the MK-225, a premium thin-rim blade with stiffening and cooling slots aimed at that material specifically.

What arbor does this blade take?

This part number is a 1 inch arbor. MK notes that special arbors are available on request and that stock arbors can be bushed down to smaller sizes, but that has to be specified at the time of order.

How do I get a straighter cut?

Feed slowly and let the rim clear its own slurry. Pushing a thin-rim blade forces it to deflect against the material, and a deflected rim is what produces a wandering or dished cut. A steady moderate feed with good water flow is faster over a full day than short bursts of hard feeding.

Is the MK-215 a dry blade?

No. It is built for wet cutting on a tile saw. MK publishes separate dry-cutting blades for field work where water is not practical.
