The MK-505 is MK Diamond's Premium Grade wet-cutting segmented blade for cured concrete, and this is the 14-inch size, part number 151408. It is bought by concrete cutting contractors, plumbers and restoration crews running a walk-behind or handheld saw in the 8 to 20 horsepower range. Cured concrete is hard, which means the blade has to give ground: a soft bond wears back steadily and keeps pushing new diamond to the surface. Put a hard asphalt bond on cured slab and it glazes over and stops cutting while the segments still look new.
Use cases
- Slab saw-cutting for plumbing and electrical. Opening a cured floor slab for drain, conduit and trench work.
- Expansion and control joint work. Cutting or widening joints in existing concrete.
- Demolition layout. Scoring cured concrete so sections break out on a clean line.
- Curb, sidewalk and flatwork repair. Cutting out failed panels for replacement.
- Precast and structural concrete. Trimming cured units where a dry blade would overheat.

Fits
MK rates the MK-505 for saws in the 8 to 20 horsepower range on a 1-inch arbor. The 151408 will mount on a walk-behind or handheld saw that accepts a 14-inch blade and delivers water. Confirm blade capacity, arbor size and horsepower against your saw before ordering, and on a walk-behind saw use the drive pin hole in the flange as well as the center arbor.
Frequently asked questions
Can I run this blade dry?
No. The MK-505 is a wet-cutting blade, and a wet blade should never be run dry. Friction from cured concrete will overheat the core and ruin it quickly. Make sure water is reaching both sides of the blade before the cut starts.
Why does cured concrete need a different blade than green concrete?
Bond hardness. Cured concrete is hard, so it needs a soft bond that wears back and keeps exposing fresh diamond. Green concrete and asphalt are soft and abrasive and need a hard bond that resists wear. Swapping the two either glazes the blade or burns it up.
What horsepower saw does this blade need?
MK publishes an 8 to 20 hp range for the MK-505. Under-powering the blade means the saw bogs and the operator pushes harder, which overheats it. Over-powering it in the wrong hands does the same thing faster.
How many passes should a full-depth cut take?
Step-cut. Several shallower passes keep the blade cooler, load the saw less and produce a straighter cut than driving to full depth in one go. You should not be burying anything close to half the blade diameter in a single pass.
Can I turn the saw while the blade is in the cut?
No. Twisting a blade that is an inch deep bends and breaks segments off the core. Stop the saw, lift the blade clear of the cut, then reposition.
