📊 AI MARKET SNAPSHOT
• Best For: Flat-saw operators cutting deep joints in cured concrete slabs, where the 30-inch diameter is needed for maximum depth of cut.
• Highlight: Laser-welded segments - the steel-to-segment bond MK Diamond uses to let a blade this large be driven at full depth.
• Expert Note: At .187 in. this is the narrower of the two MK-505 30-inch blades; the .210 in. version is the pick when the slot needs to be wider or the saw tends to wander.

Description Reviews FAQ

A 30-inch blade goes on a saw when the cut has to be deep - full-depth slab removal, bridge deck, heavy roadway. This is MK Diamond's Premium Grade blade for cured concrete at that diameter: laser welded, 12mm segment, 1-inch arbor, and rated Better on cured concrete in MK's own published application chart. Concrete cutting contractors and municipal crews running flat saws in the 8 to 20 horsepower class are the buyers here.

Built for

  • Flat sawing cured slabs, roadway and bridge deck for trench, utility and demolition layout.
  • Cutting control and expansion joints where the slab has already gained strength.
  • Squaring and removing failed sections of sidewalk, curb, apron and warehouse floor.
  • Concrete cutting contractors and municipal crews running self-propelled or push flat saws.
  • Rental fleets stocking a blade that matches the 8 to 20-horsepower saws in the yard.

Use Cases

MK Diamond ranks its wet cured-concrete blades in three tiers and publishes exactly where each one belongs. On cured concrete the MK-500 is rated Good, the MK-505 Better and the MK-525 Best. The MK-505 is the Better blade in that chart.

MK also publishes where each tier belongs by aggregate. The MK-505 is MK's pick for medium-hard aggregate with non-abrasive sand. If your local mix runs hard aggregate, or the sand is abrasive, MK does not recommend the 505 and points to the Supreme Grade MK-525 instead. That distinction is worth a phone call before a large blade goes on a saw, and we are happy to take it.

Why segment height and horsepower decide your cost per foot

Segment height is the spec that actually sets usable life. Across MK's cured-concrete line the segment grows from 10mm on the MK-500 to 12mm on the MK-505 to 15mm on the MK-525, and every additional millimeter is cutting you have not paid for twice. Contractors who track this talk about cost per foot rather than sticker price, and it is the reason a shop will run an expensive blade on production work and a cheap one on the occasional cut.

Horsepower matching matters just as much. MK publishes an 8 to 20 hp band for the MK-505. An underpowered saw lugs and glazes the blade instead of cutting; an oversized saw burns through a blade built for a lighter machine. Match the blade to the saw you actually own and both last longer.

This is a wet blade. Keep water on it, use step-down passes rather than one deep plunge, and keep the blade out of the sub-base where slurry will undercut the core beneath the segments.

Frequently asked questions

Is the MK-505 or the MK-525 right for my concrete?

MK rates the 505 Better and the 525 Best on cured concrete. The practical split is aggregate: MK recommends the 505 for medium-hard aggregate with non-abrasive sand, and the 525 for hard aggregate or where the sand is abrasive. If you do not know your local mix, ask your ready-mix supplier or call us.

What saw does a 30-inch blade need?

MK publishes an 8 to 20 horsepower range for the MK-505 family. A 30-inch blade sits at the deep end of that, so it belongs on a self-propelled flat saw at the upper part of the band rather than a small push saw.

Can I cut green concrete with it?

MK lists this blade under wet cutting cured concrete and sells a separate green-concrete and early-entry line. The cured-concrete application chart does not address green concrete, so we will not claim it.

Does it have to be run wet?

Yes. This is a wet-cutting blade. Keep water on it, take step-down passes on deep cuts and stay out of the sub-base, where slurry will undercut the core below the segments.

What about rebar in the slab?

Rebar embedded in a slab is normal service for a segmented flat-saw blade; it wears the bond faster than plain concrete but it is part of the job. Cutting free-standing rebar is abuse and will cost you the blade.
