Most G6 machines still in service are twenty to thirty years old, and the outer bag is the part that ages first. Two things are worth knowing before you fit this assembly. First, a new Kirby outer bag takes noticeable force to twist onto the emtor. Owners regularly assume they have the wrong part when the bag will not slide on easily, but a tight fit is exactly what a sealed dirt path requires, and the fabric relaxes with use.
Second, if you are chasing dust escaping at the bag base, replace the whole path rather than one component. The bag, the emtor gasket surface and the fill tube seal against each other, so a new bag fitted to a cracked emtor will leak in the same place it did before. That is the reasoning behind buying the assembly rather than the individual pieces.
