Description Reviews FAQ

When a commercial upright stops picking up and the suction still feels fine, the brush roll is usually the reason. This is a 12 inch Vibra Groomer I brush roll with ball bearings, hex ends and rubber end caps, the agitator used on Eureka and Sanitaire commercial uprights in the SC600 and SC800 families.

Built for

  • Janitorial and building service crews running Sanitaire and Eureka commercial uprights, where the brush roll is a scheduled wear item alongside belts and bags.
  • Hotels, schools, churches and offices keeping decades-old commercial uprights in service, where parts cost a fraction of a new machine.
  • Home users with an inherited commercial-grade Eureka that is worth maintaining.

Why the Vibra Groomer design works

A Vibra Groomer roll alternates beater bars with bristle strips on a twisted aluminum body, so the roll both sweeps and thumps the carpet as it turns. That beater action is what lifts crushed pile in traffic lanes, which a plain bristle roll only brushes across. The aluminum body also resists the warping and thread-stripping that finished off the old wooden rolls.

Sealed ball bearings matter more than they sound. A roll that spins freely under load means the belt is not fighting drag, so belts last longer and the motor is not strained. A roll that has seized is the usual cause of slipping belts, a hot rubber smell, and belts that burn through in weeks.

How to tell your roll needs replacing

  • Bristles worn flush with the beater bars, so the roll no longer reaches the carpet even at the lowest height setting.
  • Bearing test: pull the roll, hold both end caps and spin the body. It should turn quietly and freely. Stiff, gritty or noisy means worn bearings or packed hair.
  • Wobble, a cracked end cap or a stripped shaft thread, all of which mean the roll itself is done.

If the bearings are still good and only the bristles are gone, a bristle strip set is the cheaper fix, and the strips can be pulled and replaced with the roll on the bench. Replace the belt at the same time as the roll. A stretched belt on a fresh roll wastes the new part.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit my vacuum?

It is the 12 inch Vibra Groomer I roll for the SC600 and SC800 commercial upright families. Measure your existing roll and confirm the drive ends are hex before ordering, or send us your model number.

Hex ends or square ends?

These are hex. Older metal-base Eureka and Sanitaire uprights use a smaller square or five-sided end-cap notch, and modern hex end caps physically will not fit them. This is a real mismatch, not a preference.

Do I need a new belt as well?

Yes, replace the belt at the same time. A stretched belt on a new roll slips under carpet load and undoes the benefit of the new part.

My bristles are worn but the roll spins fine. Do I need the whole roll?

Probably not. A bristle strip set can be fitted to a roll with good bearings, which is a much cheaper repair.

What is the difference between Vibra Groomer I and II?

They are different rolls with different bristle and beater configurations, and they are not interchangeable by default. Match what came out of your machine.

Discount Cleaning Products stocks commercial vacuum brush rolls, belts, bags and filters together, so a full service kit for a Sanitaire or Eureka upright comes from one order. Our US-based team can confirm a roll against your model number before you buy.

Features
  • Lifts crushed carpet pile with alternating beater bars and bristle strips rather than brushing across it
  • Spins freely under load on sealed ball bearings so the belt is not fighting drag
  • Fits Eureka and Sanitaire commercial uprights in the SC600 and SC800 families with hex drive ends
  • Resists the warping and thread-stripping that ends wooden brush rolls, with an aluminum body
  • Restores pickup on a machine that has lost cleaning performance without losing suction
  • Accepts replacement bristle strips, so the roll is a rebuildable part rather than a throwaway
