Yes - swap to the included Qwik Lock wet filter before wet pickup, and use the appropriate dry filter or bag for dry debris. Never run a paper or cloth dry filter during wet pickup; it will clog instantly and can damage the motor.
How often should I empty the recovery tank?
For wet work, dump after every 10 to 12 gallons of liquid so the float shut-off does not engage mid-job. For dry, you can run to the full 20 gallon mark before emptying.
How is this different from a hardware-store shop vac?
The ProGuard 20 uses a stainless steel canister, a true two-stage commercial bypass motor, commercial-grade hose and a built-in squeegee tool. It is built for daily production use, not occasional weekend tasks.
