Spills, overflows, mop-down and post-scrub water pickup are jobs a brush head simply cannot do. The 15-inch Sidewinder squeegee replaces the bristle or felt face with a rubber blade that wipes liquid off a hard floor and feeds it straight to the suction opening. It works the same way as the rest of the Sidewinder group, in a side-to-side sweeping motion with the operator standing upright, which is a genuine advantage when you are pulling a large water spill off a corridor and would otherwise be bent over a wand for the length of the job.

How the Sidewinder design works
The head mounts on a flexible neck that swings through a full circle, so the blade stays flat against the floor no matter what angle the wand is held at. Sweeping side to side rather than pushing forward and back lets the operator work from an upright stance and cover a wide band of floor per pass, which is why the design is common on large-area routes.
A squeegee head and a brush head are complementary, not interchangeable. Most crews that do wet work keep both on the cart: a nylon or felt head for the nightly dry pass, and the squeegee for spill response and after wet cleaning.

Fitment and machine requirements
This is an accessory head that mounts to a Sandia Sidewinder wand, not a complete wand assembly. Just as important, the vacuum on the other end of the hose must be rated for wet pickup. What does the squeegee head do that a brush head cannot?
It recovers liquid. The rubber blade wipes water off a hard floor and channels it to the suction opening. Brush and felt heads are dry pickup tools and are not intended for standing water.
Can I use this with any vacuum?
Only with a machine rated for wet pickup. The tool handles liquid, but the vacuum it is connected to has to be a wet or wet/dry unit. Running water into a dry-only vacuum will damage the motor.
Will the blade mark a finished floor?
The blade is rubber and is used on hard floors including wood, vinyl and tile. As with any squeegee, check the blade for embedded grit before running it across a finished surface.
Does it attach directly to my backpack hose?
No. It mounts to a Sandia Sidewinder wand, and the wand connects to the machine.
